Troubadour
So, I’m very bad at art history. Terrible at it, I think because my memory sucks. But there this one little corner of art history that I’ve become obsessed with, and that’s medieval manuscripts. There’s just something about the illustrations you see on the margins that are so whimsical and interesting to me. They’re mainly based of religious text, but looking at them out of context they make no sense and just look like funny doodles. This kind of reminds me of children and the nonsensical drawings they create with weird creatures that you’re not too sure about. So I’m making a childrenswear collection inspired by these medieval manuscripts. I’m taking these illustrations and putting my own spin on them to make the prints for the collection. I’m adding these illustrations to really whimsical and romantic silhouettes to give it a dreamy fairytale vibe. This comes from my desire to make everything in my life cute and precious and like you want to hug it really hard. I really hope my collection will inspire kids to write their own stories and not care about wether they make sense or not.
